Is the Coronavirus worrying you? Keep calm and carry on with these tips.

If you’ve been following the news you may be getting the impression that our society is tumbling toward some sort of zombie apocalypse, but we implore you to take a step back and assess the situation and take the necessary steps to keep your business going. After all, panic is a disservice to everyone and successful agents are all about service to others.

First and foremost, protect yourself. That means doing simple things like washing hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds, using hand sanitizer, and keeping your hands away from your face.

Protect others. Besides washing and sanitizing hands, consider switching out the common handshake greeting altogether and going in for an elbow bump or a simple wave. Always cover your cough or sneeze and wash hands afterwards.

Feeling sick? Stay home and monitor your symptoms. If it’s a mild case, and you can work from home, now is a great time to reach out to someone over the phone or email and touch base about their insurance needs. Contact your primary care doctor if your symptoms become more severe and listen to their advice.

Develop tools and communication methods to best reach your current and future customers. Offer to talk to them over Skype or FaceTime to discuss insurance options and answer their questions. If you’re not sick but they are hesitant to meet in person, offer to drop off any documents they may request or have digital versions ready to email out.

Remember, the sense of panic they may feel now will eventually pass, but you can remind them that it’s never too early or too late to plan for the future and the event of death. As scientists agree that such pandemics will become more regular, preparation is key.
